01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled along the serene waterfront of Greenwich, CT, l'escale restaurant is a sophisticated French dining destination that flawlessly balances elegance with warmth. This charming eatery invites you to savor classic French flavors, masterfully prepared and presented, in an atmosphere that feels both upscale and inviting — a true gem for any discerning palate.

Step inside and be embraced by a refined yet relaxed ambiance, where tasteful décor, often enhanced with seasonal touches, creates the perfect backdrop for memorable meals. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply seeking an elevated everyday experience, l'escale crafts an inviting space that feels intimate without a hint of stuffiness.

The menu, while thoughtfully curated rather than expansive, offers an irresistible array of dishes showcasing the best of French culinary artistry. Start your journey with fresh oysters — choose from the briny Blue Point Connecticut, the clean and sweet Beau Soliel from New Brunswick, or the delicate Kumamoto from California. Each oyster promises a burst of ocean freshness that awakens the palate.

For heartier fare, items like the Duck Confit Salad combine tender poached duck egg, crisp frisée, haricots verts, and crunchy croutons, all brought together with a red wine vinaigrette that sings with depth and complexity. Breakfast lovers will appreciate the delectable Omelette filled with sweet onions, vibrant spinach, and tangy feta cheese — a simple yet exquisite dish.

The beverage selection complements the food perfectly, featuring thoughtfully brewed coffees and teas, and refreshing fresh-squeezed juices. The cocktail offerings, highly recommended by patrons, add a playful yet refined touch to the dining experience, crafted with care by knowledgeable bartenders like Lenny, who have been praised for their warm hospitality and expert recommendations.

Across visits, diners repeatedly applaud the service at l'escale — attentive and genuine, with a friendly touch that makes every guest feel like part of the family. The staff’s warmth, especially toward families with children, adds a dimension of comfort and care that enhances the overall experience.

Don’t miss finishing your meal with the decadent pistachio profiteroles draped in warm chocolate sauce, a dessert that perfectly encapsulates the restaurant's commitment to indulgence and finesse.

While prices are on the higher end, every dollar spent translates into impeccable quality, thoughtful presentation, and a dining experience that lingers long after the last bite. Whether you’re drawn by the lively weekend live music or the peaceful waterfront views, l'escale restaurant offers a truly special taste of French elegance in the heart of Greenwich.

L’Escale is a true gem in the area. It’s my favorite restaurant and I’m picky. The food is great, and even more importantly the people who work there are very personable and super nice to my son when we dine there. The atmosphere is fine dining without being stuffy. They tend to have nice decorations for the holidays which adds to the ambiance. Highly recommend both for a special occasion and every day dining.

Absolutely loved L’Escale Restaurant! The food was so fresh and delicious, and the French fries were some of the best I’ve ever had. The space is beautiful, clean, and has a great atmosphere. Huge shoutout to Lenny at the bar — incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and respectful. He helped me choose amazing food and drinks and truly made the experience special. Can’t wait to come back!

I love this place. Great service, very good atmosphere and great food. The menu is limited however all *dishes are worthy of trying. Presentation of the food is spot on. One of my favorite places to go to in CT. In weekend there is live music. Tip: try the cocktails. *Prices are on the higher end.

Avocado toast and a coffee was like 40 bucks... a little excessive. But the food tasted great.. eggs cooked to near perfection with fresh and tasty salad to round out the dish. Service was very cordial and on point. Atmosphere was classy/elegant.

L’Escale in Greenwich is such a lovely spot — cozy, elegant, and right on the water. The food was delicious from start to finish. We loved the fresh tuna tartare, perfectly cooked octopus, spicy lobster pasta, and tender steak. And don’t skip dessert — the pistachio profiteroles with warm chocolate sauce were incredible. The vibe is relaxed but refined, and the service made us feel truly taken care of. Can’t wait to come back!

After having been in Reims and Paris for 6 days, we stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant for lunch on the way to Provence. This wonderful restaurant was on a quiet street. Seating was comfortable and the ambiance was excellent. We had the Perigourdine (foie gras), Gourmandie (shrimp and scallops), and Cote Mer (Sea Bass). Each dish was excellent, but if we had to pick our favorites we’d choose the foie gras and shrimp and scallops. We shared a lovely bottle of wine with our meal. Highly recommended!

Loved this restaurant! A great, dress-up waterfront restaurant with food that does not disappoint. FOOD Was spectacular. All the courses. Highlights were the beef tartare and the creme brûlée dessert. In fact, the creme brûlée may have been one of the best I've ever had. The custard had a perfect texture and the shatteringly crispy shards of caramelized sugar on top was the perfect contrast. Moreover, the accompaniments - a raspberry almond bread and fresh raspberries on top - provided the perfect bit of acidity to make this a real winner. The beef tartare was delicious with a great balance that worked well with the chips to whet the palate for the meal to come. ATMOSPHERE Perfection. The interior of the restaurant is spacious but brings you almost to the French coast, somewhere in Provence. Decorated beautifully, it is alongside the Long Island Sound which juts into Greenwich right next to the restaurant. We chose indoor dining this time around as the temperature was dropping, however there is a beautiful outdoor space overlooking the water. SERVICE Was generally great. However, I found it to be a tad bit slow - which honestly I didn't mind. It let you admire your surroundings and even step out for a bit onto the balcony and watch the sun set over the water in Greenwich harbor. Can't complain - but don't be surprised if it takes a bit for the food to come. Overall, had a beautiful dinner and experience here - will be back
